About Snowfence
Snowfence exists so people can say yes to AI at work without their company’s data leaking out through it. We’re building data loss prevention for AI tools: one fence on every company laptop and server that lets everyday work through and stops sensitive data at the edge.
Why we’re building it
AI tools changed how people work faster than security tools changed how they protect it. People paste documents into chat apps, coding agents read whole repositories, and agents call tools that reach company systems. New tools appear every week.
Most companies answer in one of two ways. They block AI, and people use it on personal accounts and phones instead, where nothing is checked. Or they allow it and hope. We think there is a better answer: let people use the AI tools they like, and stop only the data that shouldn’t leave.
What we believe
- Security must not slow people down. Most requests should pass without anyone noticing. When Snowfence does stop something, it says why and names an approved way to finish the job.
- Decide, never change data. Snowfence allows, asks or blocks. It never rewrites what people send, so nothing breaks in ways nobody can see.
- No surveillance of normal work. Snowfence doesn’t record keystrokes, screens or browsing, and it doesn’t score people.
- Your data stays with you. Checks run on your own machines. Our console keeps metadata, never content.
- Be honest about limits. No tool stops every leak. We say what Snowfence stops and what it can’t, on every page.
Why “Snowfence”?
A snow fence is a slatted fence built across open ground in the mountains. It doesn’t wall anything in. Wind passes through the gaps, and the snow it carries drops behind the fence instead of burying the road. Snowfence works the same way: everyday work passes through, and what shouldn’t travel stays behind.
